|Biaxin Mechanism: How does Biaxin work?
|Generic Biaxin (Clarithromycin) is a semi- synthetic macrolide antibiotic chemically related to erythromycin. Generic Biaxin is effective against a wide variety of bacteria organisms, such as Haemophilus influenzae, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Mycoplasma pneumoniae, Staphylococcus aureus, and mycobacterium avium, and many others.
Generic Biaxin (Clarithromycin) prevents bacteria from growing, by interfering with their protein synthesis. Generic Biaxin (Clarithromycin) binds to the subunit 50S of the bacterial ribosome, and thus inhibits the translocation of peptides.
